The super street dance troupe, Diversity, began their UK Tour at the weekend with a show in Manchester on Saturday night. Playing to a packed out (and very excited) Manchester Apollo, the lads put on a truly impressive show as the ‘Diversitoys‘, dancing their way through their own ‘Toy Story‘ with various special guests mucking in along the way.
Anyone who saw their winning performance on Britain’s Got Talent will know that their routines are truly original and Ashley Banjo’s choreography skills are second to none with inventive and clever moves and music combined. Also joining them on stage was fellow BGT favourite Aiden Davis as ‘Bionic Boy’ and Radio 1 Beatbox Champion ‘The Pete Box‘ who provided an additional dimension of entertainment to the show.
Highlights of the night included a Michael Jackson tribute routine which really got the crowd going and singing along. With their routines peppered with Jackson-esque moves, this seemed like a really fitting extra and an excuse for Perri Luc Kiely to show off his quirky Moon Walk. Dance-offs with girl dance troupe Sugar Free, the infamous BGT routines performed in full and, to begin the proceedings, human DJ decks playing Dizzee Rascal’s Bonkers set the tone for the show.
I’ll admit that I couldn’t help getting swept up with all the excitement, especially given the extreme proximity of the lovely Ashley Banjo. With an audience as diverse (sorry) as the dancing, the show really was a great night out for parents, kids, aspiring dancers and groups friends on a pre-night out alike. Brilliant stuff.
