Q&A with… Dirty Blonde

Meet Dirty Blonde, the fierce female twosome shaking things up in the Manchester music scene. Comprising members Ailis Mackay (vocals, guitar) and Hayley Tait (guitar, backing vocals), the duo have rapidly gained momentum as the ones to watch in 2024.

We had a chat with Hayley and Ailis ahead of their performance at Manchester’s Neighbourhood Fest.

Hey Dirty Blonde, thanks for chatting with us! Please introduce yourselves to our readers.
We’re Hayley & Ailis, a Mancunian female duo, AKA Dirty Blonde.

You’ve been busy on the festival circuit this year – what has been your favourite experience so far?
This year has been amazing! It’s been our first big festival season since forming the band at the start of 2023. Some of our standouts for us were playing the Big Top at Isle of Wight, the Quarry at Y Not, Truck Festival, and Great Escape. A hidden gem for us was Camper Calling, it had such a great atmosphere and we got to bring our dogs!

What would be your dream venue to play?
We’d really love to play at the 100 Club in London. There’s so much history and a legendary vibe there. And obviously, the ultimate dream would be playing the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury.

If people haven’t heard your music before, what one song would you point them to?

“Don’t Cry (It Doesn’t Suit You)” has become a crowd singalong favourite at our live shows. It’s always a nice moment when the audience starts singing along.

Is there anyone you’re looking forward to catch live at Neighbourhood Festival 2024?
We’re looking forward to seeing FEET, Bradley Simpson, Nxdia, Villanelle, Soft Launch, and The Royston Club.

Have you got anything else coming up in 2024 that you’re excited about?
We’ve been sitting on a new EP for a while now, and we’re really excited about it and you will probably get to hear some of it this year. We’re definitely looking forward to sharing what we’ve been working on.

Well we can’t wait to hear it. Thanks Dirty Blonde!! See you at Neighbourhood this Saturday.

Thanks,

Haylish 👯‍♀️
