Hey Odhran! Thanks for chatting with us. How has your 2024 been so far?

2024 has been incredibly busy for me! I’ve been traveling between Ireland, London, and Nashville, focusing on writing and recording new music. I’ve had the opportunity to play my own headline shows in Dublin and Cork, as well as supporting some fantastic artists like Tom Walker, Lyra, and Darren Kiely. Each experience has been unique and inspiring for me and my music.

Raised in County Armagh, Ireland, what music were you listening to growing up, and how has it influenced your current sound?

Growing up, I was surrounded by Irish traditional and folk music, which played a significant role in shaping my music taste. My grandfather was a member of a showband, and my mother was involved in music as well, so I guess that’s where my love for music originates. Those early influences can still be heard in my sound today, as I often incorporate elements of folk storytelling into my lyrics and melodies.

Your latest single, “Roadtrip Home,” is out now. What was the songwriting process for this track?

The songwriting process for “Roadtrip Home” was quite organic. I typically start with a guitar melody or chord progression. Once I had the structure in my head for the verses and hooks, I began to write some lyrics that align with the melody. I love Roadtrips so the aim was to try and capture that “Roadtrip nostalgia”.

If someone has never listened to your music before, which one song would you direct them to -and why?

I would definitely recommend “Limitless Love.” This song truly captures my sound and energy, and it carries a positive, uplifting vibe that resonates with many listeners. I believe it’s a great introduction to my musical style and what I stand for as an artist.

You’ll be performing at Abbie McCarthy’s Good Karma Club on October 29th. How do you tend to prepare for your live shows?

Yes, I’m really looking forward to performing at the Good Karma Club! My setlist tends to evolve frequently, as I’m always excited to introduce new songs. When I create something I love, I can’t resist adding it to the setlist, even if it means changing things up just five minutes before going on stage! I also like to do a few vocal warm-ups and run through the set to ensure everything flows smoothly.

Thanks for chatting with us, Odhran! What else do you have in store for the rest of the year?

Thank you for having me! For the rest of the year, I’m heading out on an Irish tour with Lyra on the 1st of November which I am super excited about. I’ll also be performing at the Live at Leeds festival on November 16th, and I have a special gig lined up at the INEC Killarney on December 30th with my buddy Darren Kiely. It’s going to be a fantastic end to the year!
