We had a catch-up with indie-pop favourites Daydreamers ahead of their performance at Neighbourhood Festival 2024. Lead singer Riley joined us for this chat. 🌈
Hey Riley. Thanks for joining us. Tell us a bit about Daydreamers – how did you all meet?
Hey! So last year we all got together through a mutual friend at Marco and Aurora’s uni – I’d been writing songs for ages and was dying to get out and play them live. Then we all got into the room together and it just really clicked. So last October we started Daydreamers, and it’s been a whirlwind since.
Congrats on your latest single ‘Don’t Delete My Number!’. Can you give us some insight on the inspiration behind the track?
In my head if ‘Call Me Up’ (our 1st single) was the first date, ‘Don’t Delete My Number’ is when they end up ghosting you. It started as much of them do, just me messing around with ideas on my laptop and just was built up with the guys from there.
You’ve had a busy year – from gigging, festival season, radio 1 appearances to releasing four singles!! What has been your standout moment?
I think after our first single went crazy on TikTok getting into a room and selling out our show at Camden Assembly was a real highlight. I’ve always loved just connecting with people over the music – it’s the best feeling when people relate to what you do.
What is your favourite song to play live? Will we be hearing it at Neighbourhood Fest?
For me personally I love Beach House, we’re opening with it and when people sing back the line “let’s not overthink it this time please” it really hits something in me.
We can’t wait for you to join us on Saturday 5th of Oct! Have you got anything else exciting coming up for the rest of 2024?
So much! We’re just about to head off on tour with Sea Girls, so very excited for those shows. Our next single Colourblind is coming very soon (you heard it here first). Then our debut EP will be on the way not long after… then all attention to the 1st album.
Thanks guys! See you at Neighbourhood.
