“Soft Launch are the band you should be very excited about”- Dork Mag
Coined as one of the most exciting bands on the scene right now by Dork, DIY Mag, Declan McKenna and CMAT; there is an undeniable buzz around Soft Launch right now. They’ve just released their single ‘In My Bed’ which you can listen to here. We had a catch-up with the Irish quintet ahead of their UK Headline tour coming this October – tickets on sale now.
Hey Soft Launch – thanks for chatting with us today! Can you tell our readers a bit about how Soft Launch came to be?
We all came together through a series of accidents in 2022! After that we made some music in an old milking shed in Sussex, birthing and milking the soft launch sound for all its worth.
You’ve had a whirlwind year … even prior to releasing your debut single ‘Cartwheels’ in April, a significant momentum was building around the band. Since then, you’ve caught the attention of pop icons CMAT and Declan McKenna, released your second single ‘Piano Hands’ and just announced an impressive UK headline tour set for October. What do you think has been key to your success so far?
It’s been a brilliant time the last few months, we’ve reached heights we didn’t think possible, mainly from learning how to stand on each others shoulders.
‘In My Bed’, your latest single, has just been released today Friday 2nd August. Can you share a bit about the inspiration and creative process behind this track?
In My Bed was written in Brighton with the blinds closed and the sun creeping in in early 2022. It wasn’t until a little later we recorded it, in an old milking sheds in Sussex. It really produced the soft launch sound. It’s a song for the ages, if in fact that age is within the record buying demographic.
You’ve just come off tour with James Marriott and are set to join Declan McKenna on his UK tour this August … what does a typical day on tour with Soft Launch look like? Have you had many memorable moments so far?
[On tour] We’re big fans of late breakfasts and early arguments, followed by gear loading, heart stopping and shoe shopping. The most memorable moment of touring so far was our gig in Dublin in the Bernard Shaw. Our support slot for another show was cancelled and we decided to do an impromptu gig instead that night!
Readers have a few chances to catch you live this year – you’ll be joining Manchester’s largest multi-venue festival Neighbourhood Festival and you’ve just announced your UK headline tour taking place in October. What can we expect from your live shows?
You can expect both or one of either. Rock & or roll. And 4 part harmonies.
Thanks for joining us Soft Launch!
Catch Soft Launch on tour this October across the UK and at Manchester’s inner-city festival Neighbourhood Festival on Saturday 5th October.
