An exciting new addition of artists join Manchester’s Neighbourhood Festival on Saturday the 5th of October 2024 across all the best venues the city has to offer.
Joining our headliners, we’re delighted to have songwriter Bellah Mae and indie-rock outfit The Royston Club. These will also be joined by The Guestlist and Villanelle. Keep reading for more information on some of our new additions that you won’t want to miss on the 5th of October.
Augustine
The two-time Grammy-nominated artist and producer Augustine debuted in 2019 with the song “Luzon”. Since then, the accolades have poured in. His music can be described as bedroom pop molded into a retro-tinged soundscape, where playful melodies dance over sweet harmonies gracefully.
Augustine’s catalog has been streamed over 50 million times. Thanks to talent, diligence, and a DIY spirit, he has taken his music from the small town of Jörlanda in Sweden to significant international stages and listeners worldwide.
Esme Emerson
Since signing to Communion Records earlier this year, Esme Emerson have quickly asserted themselves as one of 2024’s hottest prospects. Expanding their dedicated fan base while on the road with Keane and The Japanese House and releasing their first EP for the label Big Leap, No Faith, Small Chancer, which have seen them praised by key tastemakers within music and culture, including The Face, i-D, Dazed, The Telegraph, NME, Clash, and The Line of Best Fit.
Mitch Sanders
Mitch has been honing his craft and finding his voice, working along side the likes of Declan McKenna, Flyte and his producing partner Catherine Marks (boygenius, Foals, Wolf Alice)on his debut body of work. Mitch launched his first single, ‘Garden of England’, a deeply felt homage to the community and connections that made him–and that still bind him together and keep him whole. Written in the summer of 2023 with the Flyte duo, the track is a rippling, coming-of-age storm that introduces the world to exactly who Mitch Sanders is.
Jasmine Jethwa
Jasmine Jethwa’s journey to singing begins in a melting pot of Western and Indian culture, influenced by the personal stories of her London upbringing and with a mesmerising, natural command for melody and harmonies. Jasmine makes swaying, folk-tinged acoustic pop songs with a full voice that teems with rich emotion. Her sonic palette makes sense when she describes the music she was most interested in growing up. “There’d be David Gray, Tracy Chapman, Dido, Gipsy Kings, The Eagles – old songs, classic albums. And I feel like they went into my psyche.”
Jasmine Jethwa’s songs are a reminder that we can’t know the future, but we can lean into the poetry, the cosmos and the depth of feeling, and let it all hold us.
Denver County Council
Based out of Manchester, England, DCC nod their caps to America whilst keeping a quintessentially northern core. Hot off a sold out debut headline show at Matt & Phreds as well as a barnstorming UK tour with The Hunna, DCC are kicking a boot shaped hole into the music scene – With debut singles ‘Seventeen’ & ‘Mad Love’ already becoming fan favourites, they’re currently in the studio cooking up their next single. After recently sharing the stage with The Blinders at New Century Hall, they’ll now be bringing the party, the energy and those big hooks to Neighbourhood Festival. See you down the front!
Liang Lawrence
Liang Lawrence is a singer-songwriter currently creating and performing in the UK. Her debut EP ‘letters to myself’ was released in August 2023 and racked up over 1 million streams in a matter of weeks. Liang was drawn to music as a source of grounding consistency-painting pictures with words, Liang taught herself to play guitar and write songs from her bedroom, she found in music a love for storytelling and a way to express the messy emotions of everyday life.
Liang’s raw and honest tunes lean into indie folk, soft rock and electronic territories in the vein of Clairo, The Japanese House, beabadoobee, boygenius and Lizzy McAlpine. Most recently, Liang has played a BBC Introducing Showcase and supported artists including Adam Melchor, Will Joseph Cook, Sophie May, Bully, Olive Klug and New Rules.
Jasmine 4.T
Trans singer-songwriter jasmine.4.t (Jasmine Cruickshank) sings about the tangled joy, heartache, camaraderie and isolation of transfeminine life. Based in Manchester, she is the first UK signee to Phoebe Bridgers’ label Saddest Factory Records and her debut single ‘Skin on Skin’ was produced by Julien Baker, Phoebe Bridgers and Lucy Dacus.
“Being signed by Phoebe Bridgers is immediately going to open me up to a wider audience,” she says. “I take it seriously, just to be a visible trans woman role model in music, because there aren’t that many, and there should be more.”
Odhran Murphy
Odhran Murphy is a 25-year-old singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist hailing from the captivating County Armagh in Ireland. With a passion for indie/folk music, Odhran is swiftly making his mark as an upcoming artist within the vibrant music scene. His soulful melodies and heartfelt lyrics have the power to transport listeners to another world, where emotions run deep and stories come alive.
Odhran’s music is a beautiful reflection of his creative spirit. Odhran has recently self-released three singles ‘Limitless Love’ , “My Oh My” and “My Hometown” .“Limitless Love” is on over 3.8m streams and his Spotify Monthly listeners is growing each month, now over 148k. Odhran has recently signed a distribution deal with Downtown and released “I Can’t Get Back Up” with them.
