Ahead of their performance at NBHD Weekender festival at Victoria Park, Warrington this month we caught up with Liverpool band Courting…
Can you tell us a bit about the band and how you got together?
We became a band through school and university. We’re originally from Liverpool.
You’re from Liverpool, what’s the music scene like in the city?
Really great at the moment, for a while I thought there was a serious lack of interesting music in Liverpool but recently I think there are a lot of great bands coming out.
You’ll be performing at NBHD Weekender festival in Warrington this summer on Saturday 27th May. Are you looking forward to this?
We are really excited to play, our bassist Connor is from Warrington so this will be one hell of a rootin’ tootin’ hometown show for him.
What is your festival necessity?
Nail Clippers.
You released your debut album ‘Guitar Music’ last year, can you tell us about the creative process behind this?
Guitar Music was born from the idea of trying to make a really interesting rock album and reclaim the idea of a guitar band being artistically viable. We tracked the record in Liverpool, and then worked with James Dring to make it a bit weird.
How would you describe your music in three words?
Silly. Big. Unironic
Who are your biggest musical influences?
We have a lot of influences, Sleigh Bells, Blur, Charli XCX, LCD Soundsystem.
What does 2023 have in store for Courting?
World domination
Have you got any messages for your fans?
Thank you very, very, very, very much.
