Introducing…Pinty

Share:

MC and Rapper Pinty, also known as Michael Colvill was raised in Peckham. His name ‘Pinty’ stemmed from a nickname made in school at Peckham Academy where he had a habit of drinking a pint of milk every day.  Pinty built reputation as a DJ and MC through residencies on radio stations like Balamii and Reprezent. His first EP City Limits was released through Bradley Zero’s label, Rhythm Section.

Pinty’s signature sound sits somewhere between house, garage, rap and d’n’b, and often pays homage to the ‘1999-2002 real golden era’ where UK garage, broken beat and house combined. The Brit School alumnus, takes inspiration from Mike Skinner and MC Skibadee, but mostly from his late brother who was also an MC.

Pinty received large recognition from his debut 2019 EP City Limits, with his track of the same title reaching over 1.5 million Spotify streams. He followed this with his second EP in 2020, Midnight Moods and shortly after released his third Tomorrow’s Where I’m At in 2021.

On September 30th 2022, Pinty released his album Pinty’s House. In this work he continues the theme of collaboration and his vision of it being a huge house party in his head. A fan-favourite from the album appears to be ‘Stuck Like Glue’ featuring North-London based singer-songwriter, Catching Cairo. Throughout, the album features vocalists, spoken word and a different producer on each track.

Pinty is heading on his headline UK tour this Autumn, performing in venues such as Manchester’s Yes (The Basement) and Corsica Studios, London.

Thursday 17th November 2022 – Yes (The Basement), Manchester
