With a heady live-reputation preceding them, Parliamo have already been hailed as one of Scotland’s most exciting young prospects. Drawing from a plethora of influences from Groove Armada, The Avalanches and Massive Attack to Super Furry Animals, The Beta Band and Primal Scream – their witty social commentary–styled lyricism partnered with a unique songwriting approach suggests a band working beyond their years.
With the release of “Paul & Barry” today and their upcoming EP The Parliamo Manifesto – Parliamo are taking confident strides to becoming one of the most talked about bands in the country.
Sampling the droning bass harmonica in Dennis Wilson’s 1977 track ‘Dreamer’, new single ‘Paul & Barry’ expertly weaves together the 6-piece’s electronic and trip-hop influences with a swaying groove-laden indie rock sonic palette.
Backed by radio in the UK (BBC 6Music, Radio Scotland, Radio X) and in the US (via KEXP), their self-proclaimed brand of ‘underground pop’ is already turning a lot of heads. Citing influence from the likes of John Cooper-Clarke, The Avalanches, and Mike Skinner through to Groove Armada and Fatboy Slim, Parliamo are a true breath of fresh air, and certainly ones to watch in 2021 and beyond.
