Live Review: Sports Team At Manchester Academy
Sports Team have come a long way since their Manchester debut; where they saw a scarce crowd of less than 50 people. This weekend gone, with support from Second Thoughts and Blanketman, the London band played their biggest headline show to-date this Saturday, to a sold out audience at Manchester Academy.
Opening with ‘Here It Comes Again‘ and an explosion of confetti, the super-charged atmosphere set the tone for the rest of the gig. Not afraid to hold back, the band shot straight into another breakthrough tune, ‘Going Soft‘. Despite the powerful opening, energy levels were far from deplating throughout the course of the show, straight into the encore, with front man Alex Rice jumping into the crowd and clambering up side-stage during their penultimate number, ‘Kutcher‘.
The band have enjoyed a phenomenal rise over the last two years and it’s clear to see why. Listen to their debut album, Deep Down Happy here.
