[ K S R ] (Roosevelt Kazaula Sigsbert) is proof that there’s more to the Manchester music scene than the stereotypes.
He’s been developing his distinctive concoction of R&B/soul under the guise of [ K S R ] since 2017, but has been trying his hand at music since childhood. Through entering talent competitions, uploading covers onto YouTube, and joining the Manchester United Foundation Choir, he’s well versed in a multitude of genres which he pulls at in his diverse releases. Now, he’s part of a hip hop and soul uprising in the city along with the likes of Children of Zeus, who have been supporting the talented 20-year-old from the get-go.
He brought out out his debut track ‘h/er’ in June 2017, which received plays on BBC Radio 1Xtra and now has amassed over 45,000 plays of Spotify. BBC Introducing also backed the young creative, showcasing one of his well-loved tracks ‘New Love’. Following on from the success of his formative singles, he released his deeply personal debut EP Unfiltered in March 2019 via Polarface Records. It included six tracks in total featuring Time Elijah, Remi and KinKai, and touch upon various genres such as jazz, R&B, neo-soul and more, showcasing [ K S R ]’s unique sound.
Since Unfiltered, he’s released three hot new singles: ‘Sweet Jungle’, ‘Flex With Me’ and ‘Last Lap’ which was released today! All three tracks follow int he footsteps of their predecessors as they’re all varied in sound, flowing from fast-paced R&B to wavy soul.
Over the past three years, [ K S R ] has supported the likes of Children of Zeus and Etta Bond, performed at festivals such as Outlook and Neighbourhood Festival, and played across his hometown, with many more opportunities to come.introducing / KSR
