For Fans Of: Tame Impala, St. Vincent, Alvvays

Experimental, versatile and unrestricted: South Africa’s Honeymoan capture the very essence of pop in the most unimaginable ways.

Forming in 2017,  Honeymoan’s vision is to write modern, original alternative pop that is fun, fresh, and exciting; exploring common trials of youth / early adulthood, love, lust and pursuing one’s creative passions at all cost, despite the realities of living under Capitalism.

After the success of, double A side singles ‘</3 / We’, the members, Alison Rachel, Josh Berry, Kenan Tatt and Skye MacInnes, jumped right into writing new songs for their forthcoming release. When vocalist Alison Rachel moved from Cape Town to Amsterdam at the end of 2017 shortly after the band was formed, the future of the proghfject was uncertain. However, after the overwhelmingly positive response of their first release in early 2018, the self-titled two track EP, they knew they had to pick up the pace. Soon after, guitarist Skye MacInnes, bassist/producer Josh Berry and drummer Kenan Tatt got straight back into the studio and the cross-continental project began.

The fruits of their labour reveal a stunning four track EP titled Body, which premiered on Under The Radar on 28th June. For their highly anticipated second release they put together four well-polished and thoroughly danceable tracks, recorded in their home studio in Cape Town and mastered by Greg Calbi of Sterling Sound. Lead single ‘Low Blow’ continues where ‘We’ left off, with a focus on infectious bass riffs and guitar riffs that wouldn’t feel out of place on a Khruangbin record. Further parallels have also been drawn between Tame Impala and St. Vincent, placing them as the latest psych pop collective to storm the scene, creating a perfectly balanced soundtrack for the summer.

Despite only having ever played one show so far, the four-piece have a UK and European tour booked solely off these six songs. Come see what all the fuss is about…
