Hinds are an exciting four-piece indie-rock band from Madrid, Spain. Adopting the work-hard, play-hard ethic, in 2016 they had already played support slots for The Strokes, Libertines and Mac DeMarco, with their own shows causing the crowd to go so wild that stage invasions have become the norm.
Starting out two years earlier, in 2014, under the name Deers, they attracted attention from music websites DIY and Line of Best Fit after uploading two demos’ to Bandcamp- ‘Bamboo’ and ‘Trippy Gum’. Renowned then-physical magazine NME described them as ‘Europe’s most exciting new band’.
Changing their name to Hinds (meaning female deer) early in 2015, they played SXSW later that year, doing 15 performances in four days, making their mark in the American music industry.
Members Carlotta and Ana only picked up guitars for the first time in 2011, but now, fast forward seven years and they have two very successful and highly praised albums to boast about. Debut album ‘Leave Me Alone’ was released in 2016, with ‘I Don’t Run’ following two years later, both with multiple 4 out of 5-star reviews. Hinds are one of the hardest working bands in the scene right now.
Hinds have cited bands and artists such as The Velvet Underground, Amy Winehouse, Bob Dylan, Patti Smith and The Arctic Monkeys as inspirations/influences to themselves as musicians and to the overall sound of their music.
They worked with Gordon Raphael (The Strokes, Regina Spektor) on second album ‘I Don’t Run’ and was described by The FADER as having ‘more sophisticated songwriting, more dynamic production, deeper emotional range, and, somehow, even catchier hooks’.
Hinds will be playing a show at Manchester Academy 3 on 13th November, and tickets are still available via: http://gigst.rs/hinds
