Superorganism- a band from mixed cultures and musical backgrounds- is heading out on their UK tour next week, starting at Liverpool’s Arts Club on the 16th October. Having only formed as Superorganism last year, after finding vocalist Orono Noguchi, they develop their unique sound by working on parts of songs separately, then sharing them over the Internet- despite 7 of the 8 members living together.
It’s a method that works, as the band have gained a huge amount of media attention and a solid following in such a short amount of time. They work primarily in psychedelic, indie/art-pop, but have a sound that could evolve into anything from hip-hop to electronic.
They released their self-titled debut album earlier this year and have since been riding the wave of sudden fame that came along with it. Highlights from their year so far include playing ‘Everybody Wants To Be Famous’, from their album, on popular American TV show Conan O’Brien on the 26th September and being nominated for an MTV EMA Award in the Best Push category.
Their gift for song-writing comes through in their live sets, as they execute each song with their sheer energy and love for the music they are creating. Superorganism are a breakthrough band not to be missed, with their UK tour promising to be nothing short of a spectacular experience.
