Harvey Leigh Cantwell – also known as HRVY – began uploading covers by the likes of One Direction and Trey Songz on Facebook at the age of 12, which soon got him noticed by East 17’s Blair Dreelan who became his manager. Through the ‘Secret of My Life’ singer’s experience, he helped the vocalist from Kent sign a deal with Universal.
He released his debut EP Holiday in July 2017 – a release that’s seen him collaborate with LMFAO’s Afro-haired Redfoo for the title track and reggae-fusion singer Stylo G for ‘La La La La (Means I Love You)’. ‘Holiday’ had phenomenal success as it topped Spotify’s UK viral chart which in turn helped him earn his 2.4 million monthly listeners. November’s follow-up Talk To Ya EP was just as much of a hit, with The Musical Hype saying “This is youthful, energetic urban-infused pop at its best.” Both EPs reached number 1 on the iTunes preorder chart, proving the loyalty of his strong fanbase that spans over five million on social media.
His first single of 2018 so far comes in the form of ‘Hasta Luego’ (meaning “bye” in Spanish), and features 15-year-old singer and dancer Malu Trevejo. The energetic video currently has 26.5 million views on YouTube and hints at new music to come.
HRVY is also known for his appearances presenting CBBC’s Friday Download, originally as just a guest before taking on the role of lead presenter full-time in season 9 in 2015. He has since become one of the UK’s leading social stars and was even hailed as “the new Justin Timberlake” by Heat.
HRVY has supported two of the biggest names in modern pop right now, Little Mix and The Vamps, which has further lead to his ever growing fanbase. His headline UK tour in late 2017 completely sold out, just as his upcoming show at London’s O2 Shepherds Bush Empire has too. However, tickets for his Manchester Club Academy show are still available here.
