Liverpudlian electronic producer Sam Lewis, better known as SG Lewis, has been achieving his goals by the masses. He previously signed a record deal with PMR (Jessie Ware, Disclosure) before landing a life-changing publishing deal Calvin Harris’ Fly Eye Records and being personally mentored by the infamous DJ.
On the topic of his mentoring, Lewis told the BBC “He’s been an amazing mentor. […] I ask for the honest feedback and he gives that. It’s so good to have someone I’m in contact with who can give that feedback and be able to back it up with the fact that he’s done very well – I trust him.”
In April, he released the first phase of his three-part album ‘Dusk, Dark, Dawn’, an ode to club music, replicating the variety of moods experienced over the course of night out. ‘Dusk’ explores the pre-drinks party disco and house feel, while ‘Dark’ turns techno and ‘Dawn’ explores the euphoria towards the end. Starting off as resident DJ at nightclubs, Lewis has enough experience collating these varying phases of the night and now invites listeners to experience these musical shifts outside the dark club walls.
He has played huge festivals including Coachella in 2016 and Wild Life last year, reaching a wider audience with each appearance. Now, shortly after blowing away a sold-out Brixton Electric, he announces a headline show at London’s newest iconic venue – the 3,000 capacity superclub Printworks.
