Introducing… Moses Sumney

Share:

Born in California, singer-songwriter Moses Sumney didn’t start performing publicly until eight years ago, but has since released one album, three EPs and multiple singles.

His music style has been described as baroque pop as he incorporates elements of classical music to contemporary melodies, as well as electronic-folk and indie-rock, conveying his eclectic sound.

His most recent EP Make Out In My Car (Chameleon Suite) was released two weeks ago, and features four new versions of the title track which was featured on his debut full length Aromaticism. The original soulful ambient piece which features a flute solo has been remixed by musicians of varying genres from indie-folk to electro and RnB, Alex Isley, James Blake and Sufjan Stevens.

Aromanticism was labelled one of The New York Times’ best albums of 2017, and Pitchfork awarded it an 8.6/10 while stating “Fused together from disparate stylistic influences, his idiosyncratic sound borrows from the musical style of every decade since the 1970s, but doesn’t seem beholden to any specific one.”
