The Magic Gang’s joyous brand of inventive power-pop has seen them rise to become one of Britain’s hottest emerging bands. Their characteristic cocktail of uplifting pop hooks, sweet harmonies, ramshackle rock ‘n’ roll energy and melancholy lyrics remains their unique calling card.
The band formed in Hampshire before moving to Brighton where the eclectic mix of pop rock fits right in with the local scene and caused them to form a dedicated fanbase. They’ve released three EPs so far and have recently added to their discography with new singles ‘Your Love’ and ‘Alright’. These releases have also lead to them often being compared to the likes of Weezer, Mac DeMarco, and The Beach Boys.
After starting the year by being included in Apple Music’s New Artists 2017 and VEVO’s dscvr lists, their subsequent Radio 1 support has included three playlisted Hottest Records at Radio 1 with plays from MistaJam, Annie Mac and Huw Stephens.
As much as The Magic Gang’s songbook is the driving fact behind their upwards momentum, their live shows are proving to be an equally important factor. From festivals such as Glastonbury, Reading & Leeds and The Great Escape to tours with Wolf Alice, Hinds, Swim Deep, Sundara Karma and Spring King, The Magic Gang’s infectious enthusiasm wins over new converts every time they hit the road.introducing / the magic gang
