Rapper and singer Gashi (previously known as The Kid Gashi) was raised in Brooklyn by Albanian parents but has broken out worldwide since the release of his first mixtape in 2010. Signed to Roc Nation – the same label as DJ Khaled, Jay-Z and Rihanna, and even having had writing sessions with the latter – Gashi is on the rise as he brushes shoulders with the biggest names in the genre.
Gashi has a vast discography of mellow hip hop tracks, including eight singles, three mixtapes, an EP and a full-length album. He dropped out of college to pursue his musical career despite being an honors student; a decision that changed his life as he knew it. He quickly began turning heads as he won multiple music competitions such as First Look Sessions’ First Time Performances in 2010 and 2011.
His 2016 EP Stairs has been highly praised for his organic move from contemporary hip hop to a more original variation, with The Source Magazine noting “There is a devious element behind each song on Stairs that is as charming as it is menacing. This can only be achieved through authoritative decision-making and risk-taking, two things the charismatic G4SHi has seldom struggled with throughout his budding career.”
His sequel EP to Stairs titled Stairs 2 is due this year, while the rapper has been dropping lead singles for months to keep fans on their toes. The most recent, ‘Blame It On The Bag’, has received particularly strong support from fans and critics as the music video conveys Gashi’s struggles from being a homeless refugee working as a janitor to this new lavish lifestyle his talent and effort have earnt.
Gashi will perform at London Oslo this July so don’t miss out!gashi / introducing
