In the past three years, Brooklyn rapper Desiigner’s career has soared. After releasing his debut track ‘Panda’ in December 2015, he has landed a deal with Kanye West’s label GOOD Music and has been nominated for an MTV VMA award.
The musician, whose real name is Sidney Royel Selby, spent a year and a half writing the song that made his career after he considered selling it to someone else but was encouraged to persevere with it – a move that changed his life. The track has even been sampled on Kanye’s 2016 album The Life of Pablo, with the music video now having over 275 million views.
He has released two EPs so far, and currently has 8 million monthly listeners on Spotify. Despite only releasing the L.O.D EP last month, he is already preparing for the drop of his first full-length album later on in the year.
