Swiss-born singer/songwriter Soccer Mommy (also known as Sophie Allison) has a “chill but kinda sad” feel to her indie-pop catalogue, made up of four EPs and one album. She pursued a life built around music early on as she started to learn guitar at six years old, then specialised in the instrument at the Nashville School of the Arts. She began uploading songs on Bandcamp under the name of Soccer Mommy in 2015 prior to studying music business at New York University, which she eventually dropped out of in order to take her career to the next level.
She made a big name for herself on Bandcamp after self-releasing her debut EP Songs For The Recently Sad via the music-sharing website, which got her on the radar of indie label Fat Possum (The Black Keys, Sunflower Bean, Temples). This was followed by two EPs in 2016: For Young Hearts and Songs From My Bedroom.
Her full-length album Clean is her second release through Fat Possum with a live band after she re-worked her Bandcamp EP Collection, but is also her first release with initial studio production. Released on 2nd March this year, Clean represents Soccer Mommy’s transition from bedroom musician to a professional.
