Formed in 2014, Otherkin are bringing back grunge with a pop twist that’s found them in incredibly good stead. They add flair to the dark genre which keeps it upbeat and catchy, yet still maintaining the classic grit and raw energy that it requires.
2017 was a landmark year for the Irish four-piece. Having opened for Guns ‘N’ Roses at Slane Castle, rocked Download and Leeds / Reading festivals and toured with punk rock legends The Dead Kennedys, they released their debut album OK in September. This was immediately followed by an epic, 51-date gig, 10,000 kilometre jaunt around 17 European countries, finishing with a triumphant, sold-out, homecoming show at Dublin’s Button Factory just before Christmas.
Their upcoming tour in April will coincide with the release of their first live album Deutschland K.O.. It was recorded last autumn at concerts in Hamburg and Berlin while on tour. It’s a punk-rock Polaroid of a band thriving in their natural element: the sweaty rock ‘n’ roll rooms where hearts are broken like noses, dreams are born, shoes are lost and the mosh-pit rules.
Deutschland K.O. will be out on Friday 6th April.introducing / otherkin
