Talented R&B quintet MiC LOWRY are known for their soulful sound with forays into funk, hip hop, and garage. Pairing memorable melodies with explicit lyrics over a bed of experimental backdrops that make for one hell of a tasty musical buffet. We caught up with the MOBO Award winners ahead of their headline show at London’s O2 Shepherds Bush Empire in March…
When did you first start making music?
We’ve been together for about 5/6 years now but we started writing original music around 3 years ago.

We’re heavily inspired by all the old 90s RnB groups: Boyz II Men, Jodeci, Jagged Edge, Dru Hill, 112 and all the rest…
What is your favourite song to play live?
“Oh Lord” is probably our favourite. It’s our most popular song (over 60 million streams!) and it gives us goosebumps every time when we hear the crowd singing it back to us.
What is your favourite album of all time?
D’Angelo – Voodoo
Who would you most like to collaborate with?
We’d love to do a track with Wretch 32
What has been your favourite song this year?
Rihanna – Wild Thoughts. It’s been overplayed to death but can’t help but get gassed when it comes on in the club!
Describe your style in three words?
Wavy Urban Scouse ?
What music did you listen to growing up?
We all got brought up on a lot of old Soul and RnB.
What was the first song you played on repeat?
Not sure if it was the first song, but I have a very early memory of banging out Craig David – “What’s Your Flava”

Mariah Carey – All I Want For Christmas. That PRS check looking healthy every year!

A lot a good energy and good vibes. If you love old school RnB then it’s one for you. Oh, and expect to get blown away by some bad man vocals!
