Originally starting out playing football for Liverpool ladies when she was young, Chelcee Grimes didn’t discover her natural talent for song-writing until she took GCSE Music at high school. Choosing to pursue song-writing is what set the wheels in motion for her career in music.
Chelcee grew up loving powerful female artists such as Alicia Keys, Beyoncé, P!NK and Lady Gaga. She got her headstrong, determined attitude by being surrounded by these highly influential artists, which has helped her throughout her career so far.
When she was 19, Chelcee got her first record deal but spent time honing her songwriting craft for other artists before bringing herself out into the limelight.
Her talented hand, led her to pen tracks for huge pop sensations such as Dua Lipa, Kylie Minogue, The Saturdays and Little Mix. She even holds writing credits on X-Factor winner Louisa Johnson’s gold-certified track ‘So Good’. 2017 saw Chelcee working with DJ/singer Calvin Harris in LA and also co-wrote 2 songs on Dua Lipa’s debut album
Fast forward to 2018 and Chelcee, now 25, has been signed to her record label RCA Records, which enabled her to release debut single, ‘Just Like That’, in June. Written in under 10 minutes in a burst of creativity, ‘Just Like That’ is a tongue-in-cheek, suggestive song that was an instant hit, receiving 2 ‘Best New Pop’ plays from Adele Roberts on Radio 1.
Her second single, ‘I Need A Night Out’, was released on 7th September, and takes a more personal turn. Being inspired by the need to have a night out after experiencing a bad break-up, Chelcee jumped into the recording studio to release the roller-coaster of emotions she was going through.
Chelcee will be performing a show this October in her hometown Liverpool on the 30th October.
