Introducing… Kara Marni

Share:

Soul-pop singer-songwriter Kara Marni has become a rising sensation. Growing up with 70’s R&B and musical greats such as Roberta Flack and Amy Winehouse, from a very early age Kara Marni fell in love with soul and the beautiful vocals that accompanied the genre. Always being the one who wanted to sing, dance and entertain, she began testing out her vocal range as a child and sang regularly in the car with her mother and at family occasions.

After her Dad played her ‘First Time I Ever Saw Your Face’ by Roberta Flack, on his beloved turntable, Kara knew that she wanted to sing and have an incredible voice like her inspirations. She consequently begged her parents to buy CD’s and a CD player, then spent hours listening and analyzing the tone of the vocals, harmonies and melodies. She would practice over and over, imitating the voices and in turn, found her own.

She describes her voice and style as ‘soul, with a sprinkling of pop’, due to her equal love and mix of classic R&B/soul with modern electronic pop. Always being creative with her writing, she takes inspiration for lyrics from a variety of things; strangers she sees whilst out, general topics, past experiences, other peoples experiences and any little phrase or word friends or strangers would come out with.

When Brit School didn’t work out, Kara found and started working with Sebastian Cole and The Invisible Men and first single ‘Golden’ was produced. In May 2018, Kara Marni released her debut E.P ‘Love Just Ain’t Enough’, which then gained press coverage from publications such as MTV online, Wonderland Magazine, Clash Magazine and title track ‘Love Just Ain’t Enough’ was added to Spotify’s New Music Friday Playlist on the day of its release. The playlist also featured ‘This Is America’ by Childish Gambino and ‘Quarter Past Midnight’ by Bastille. Her E.P came out the same week Kara had the amazing opportunity to tour for two weeks with none other than Rita Ora on her ‘Girls Tour’.

Kara Marni has maintained copious amounts of coverage from BBC Introducing and 1Xtra, online and digital print, and in June, was listed as one of Vogue Magazine’s ‘Best New Female Music Stars To Know In 2018’.

She has played festivals such as Barn on the Farm and Rize, and is now very excited to announce that she is performing a special headline show at Hoxton Square Bar and Kitchen in London on the 14th November.
