Introducing… Peking Duk

Reuben Styles and Adam Hyde from Canberra, Australia devised their name as they were sat eating Chinese, never expecting their joint house project to take off the way it has. The multi-award-winning duo met at school as a mutual friend introduced them and they shared a bond over hip hop and fidget house artists like Fake Blood and The Bloody Beetroots. Their style fits all aspects of life and they pride themselves on creating airy electronica sounds that aren’t solely contained between the four walls of a club and can appeal to anyone with an open mind.

Peking Duk were met with media acclaim early on as their 2012 remix of Passion Pit’s ‘Take A Walk’ caught the attention of many blogs including The 405 and Your Music Radar. That year they also placed in InTheMix’s Top 50 artists of the year at #6 before progressing to #5 in 2013.

Over the years their discography has built up a vast range of cover remixes such as Ben Howard’s ‘Old Pine’ to Panama Black’s ‘I Love To Rap’, as well as originals such as the the 3x platinum single ‘High’ which features indie-pop singer Nicole Millar. ‘High’ was their first Top 40 hit and lead to the pair’s first music awards as they were presented with Best Independent Dance/Electronica or Club Single at the AIR Awards and Best Dance Release at the ARIA Awards in 2014.

On 10th May this year they dropped a Western-style music video for their double single ‘Reprisal’ which is made up of ‘Fire’ and ‘Distant Arizona’ featuring Cloud Control. It peaked at number 12 in the ARIA Singles Chart and has already reached Gold status in just two months.

They’ve already smashed the Australian festival circuit, having played at Falls Festival, Splendour In The Grass, Shore Thing, Big Day Out and Stereosonic, and have even performed at America’s TomorrowWorld and Coachella festivals, as well as dipping their toe in the water this side of the Atlantic at Manchester’s Parklife. With shows that have been described as “exhilarating” and “chaotic”, their’s isn’t one to be missed.
